About the Drug Utilization Optimization Dashboard

Accessible from the left-navigation bar, this dashboard is meant to inform better purchasing decisions and performance monitoring for crucial drug classes with biosimilars.

Using the previous quarter’s historical purchasing quantities, the current quarter’s pricing and contract tier structure (including network aggregate tiers), and the current quarter’s assumptions about drug availability, we optimize for the purchasing patterns that reduce cost and increase revenue.

Drug Quantity and NCR Projection

Optimal values shown in the cards in the Total Metrics and Drug Breakdown sections of the dashboard represent the best drug allocation (in quantity) for the current quarter, in hopes of providing additional recommendations on purchasing decisions.

  1. The previous quarter is selected by default. To select a different quarter, use the Date Range filter.

  2. To select a different Drug Class, choose another option via the filter.

  3. To select a different Unit Measure, choose another option via the filter.

  4. To filter the dashboard by one or more Payers, select from the drop-down list, or type in the Payers field to search (click round arrow to see 2nd example image).

    • As you click to add payers to the filter, they are shown in the Payer field.

    • To remove a payer from the filter, click the X next to the name in the Payer field.

  5. By default, the With EOM toggle is enabled, and the dashboard displays output that respects the minimum volume requirements for EOM (enhancing oncology model, a value-based-care implementation) related entries.

    • To disable With EOM, simply click the toggle switch to move it to the off position. A second click reenables the toggle.

  6. When the Preferred toggle is enabled, the dashboard displays output that considers only preferred drug quantity and options.

Total Metrics

The cards in this section of the dashboard display the Historical NCR Total, the Optimal NCR Total, and the NCR Difference based on the selected Drug Class and other selected filters.

By comparing the Historical NCR and Optimal NCR totals, Glide shows the potential revenue opportunity on the NCR Difference card, with the trend arrow and percentage providing another way of understanding the potential opportunity.

NCR = Net Cost Recovery

Drug Breakdown

The cards in this section of the dashboard show the metrics for the drugs in the selected Drug Class.

The header of each card displays the drug name, manufacturer, procedure code, and cost.

The table on each card shows the following information for that drug, shown in the Unit Measure selected in the filter and in the NCR (Net Cost Recovery) dollar value.

  • Historic Units: Historically purchased units of the product from the previous quarter.

  • Optimal Units: Optimal purchase quantity based on the current quarter’s pricing and tier system.

  • % Change: Reflects the suggested change for historical to optimal as a percentage with a trend icon.

Key Drug Class KPI Historic Trends

The graph in this section of the dashboard displays key metrics that continue to tell a story about the financials of drugs and drug utilization.

  1. Select a quarter from the Date Range filter to see trends for the selected quarter, as compared to previous quarters.

  2. Select a Drug Class to see trends for the drugs within the selected class.

Key Trend Indicators

The trend indicators atop the graph display a trend arrow and the percentage of change for each of several key metrics for the drugs and drug utilization in the selected Drug Class.

By default, the graph shows the ASP trend for the selected filter. Click another of the trend indicators described below to display the graph for the selected indicator.

  • ASP - Average Sales Price of a drug calculated using sales data, including discounts, at the 11-digit NDC level.

The percentage indicates the change in total procedure amounts from the previous quarter to the current quarter based on the selected filter.

  • Cost - Base contract price of a drug.

The percentage indicates the change in total procedure amounts from the previous quarter to the current quarter based on the selected filter.

  • Reimbursement - Trend of reimbursement for a specific drug.

The percentage indicates the change in total procedure amounts from the previous quarter to the current quarter based on the selected filter.

  • NCR - Real Net Cost Recovery based on drug-usage.

The percentage indicates the change in total procedure amounts from the previous quarter to the current quarter based on the selected filter.
